Abstract:
The "European Urban Gardens" project aims to create a direct and continuous relationship between European associations and citizens intent on the management and cultivation of an urban garden.The project originates from important and successful past experiences:1) through the Enpi Sidig-Med fund, urban agriculture experiences have been carried out in four different countries in the Mediterranean area (Italy, Spain, Tunisia and Jordan)2) thanks to the recognition of Good Practice City to the Municipality of Rome, Italy, within the European panel "Urban & Peri-urban agriculture (UPA) for social cohesion and sustainable urban developmen" (Tallinn, October 2017) the European project Ru: rban was presented and financed, which wants to share the management and governance model of the Sidig-Med urban gardens in Rome with the citizens and associations of six other European cities (La Coruna, Loures, Caen, Krakow, Thessaloniki and Vilnius).The "European urban gardens" project aims to increase the sense of belonging to the European community through the tool of urban gardens. In particular there will be three types of instruments put in place:1) meetings every 4 months between associations and citizens to study and develop European resilience tools through urban agriculture2) creation of a network of local actors (schools, health offices, hospitals, associations and committees) in each of the countries concerned to spread and improve the tools of resilience through urban agriculture3) realization of artifacts (tangible or intangible) capable of implementing resilience in urban agricultureThe objectives of the "European urban gardens" project are manifold:- create three local networks in as many countries each made up of at least five actors;- affect a total of at least 8,000 people- develop a catalog of resilience tools through urban agriculture in English to be made available to all citizens and associations of the European Union
