Abstract: The Institute for Social Enterprises of Rotterdam is an Italian-Dutch foundation which deals with legal and administrative consultancy on social issues.We are currently working in collaboration with two Dutch Municipalities (Rotterdam and Leeuwarden) to develop a new model of organization and management of the services traditionally provided by the municipalities: we are talking about a very wide range of services, from the most basic (care of public green, management of buildings and common areas etc) to the social services, up to the organization of events and so on.The goal of the project is to involve citizens and their communities (neighborhoods) more in the provision of these services, with a view to encouraging participation, a sense of community, civic engagement.Our final idea therefore is to bring the communities of citizens to self-organize, establishing themselves in the form of a "Social Enterprise", directly receiving the funds allocated by the Municipalities and providing part of these services, without the need for intermediaries, so as to raise the quality of the services themselves and adapt them to the real needs of the citizens.This is the core of our project. At the same time, the University of Rotterdam gave its availability to join us.In a second phase, we would like to "export" this model to other European countries or, at least, to create a debate on this issue in other EU countries.Hence, the idea of participating in the "Europe for the citizens" call.At this moment we need urgently to find collaborations, partnerships with European municipalities and/or no profit organizations involved in the social sector, provided that they have a legal personality and based in a EU country.If you are interested, please contact us!Matteo Satomail: matteosato@gmail.commobile: (0031) 0687847120
