Mentoring USA/Italia Onlus is a no-profit organisation founded in 1998, after an experimental phase of the mentoring methodology, conducted by the Italian National Research Council. The actual president is Sergio Cuomo. Mentoring originates from a parent organisation in the USA, founded by Matilda Raffa Cuomo, wife of Mario Cuomo, former Governor of the State of New York. Mrs Cuomo is also the founder and honorary president of Mentoring USA/Italia. The organization mission is to prevent and contrast youth's problem, such as school drop-outs, bullying, baby-gangs, sport violence, petty criminality, homophobia, drug addiction, etc. Mentoring basically operates on the Italian territory and the Mediterranean area, through International Cooperation Projects and specific educational Programmes, based on the one-to-one mentoring method created by Matilda Raffa Cuomo.
