The Province of Lucca is a public local authority (NUTS III level), situated in North-West Tuscany, Italy. It covers an area of 1.772,81 km sq, including 35 Municipalities and 393,363 inhabitants. Topographically it comprises four well-differentiated macro areas from a geographical and socio economic point of view: the Garfagnana, a vast and picturesque valley basins between the Alpi Apuane and the Appennine chain; the Media Valle (the Serchio River Valley); the Plaint of Lucca and the Versilia, a high quality seaside locality.
