We are interested in taking part in a project in the framework of the Programme. Columbares Association was founded in 1986 and since then it has been supporting, developing and promoting social, labour, educational and cultural projects aimed at different population gropus in the Region of Murcia. The Columares Association aims fundamentally to the social and work integration of the most disadvantaged social groups: immigrants, young people, women, families, children, the elderly and unemployes people, amon others. The Columbares Association activities can be classified in Six Work Areas:Within the first work area Columbares intervenes with the immigrant population throughthe Assistance to Immigrants Centres Network, Sheltered Housing for Women and Minors,Compensatory Education Project in Public Schools, Career Guidance Office and the Project for the Improvement Housing Conditions; The second area of intervention is aimed at ethnic minorities, based on assistance to families at risk of social exclusion and on learning support and assistance for children and minors from families in difficulties;Within the third area Columbares works with the youth, offering Social and Professional Guidance and Advice, spare time activities, no-formal education courses; For the fourth area of intervention Columbares has an effective Authorised Training School;The fifth area is social participation. The Columbares Association focus its goals on awareness raising tools, organising cultural events, establishing meeting points for different groups, aiming for a spontaneous dialogue and enabling communication based on the plural and diverse knowledge present in our current society; The sixth area is Environment Area. Columbares develops activities related to conservation of natural areas, with prevention of environmental problems and to education andenvironmental awareness. Since the early 90s have been developing different activities of environmental content. In 2006 the Association has taken over the management of the Environmental and Energy Center Solar Power Columbares which becomes a flagship of the environmental department of our institution.
