A town of medieval origin, located in the Province of Avellino (ITF34) in the Campania region of Southern Italy, Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi is a bureaucratic-administrative centre. The agriculture supports its rather diversified economy and promotes the local food business, while the landscape attracts many lovers of nature. Also, the Abbey of the Goleto, founded in 1133, is a cultural and tourist attraction, with a museum, guest rooms, and spaces designed for travelers on foot and by bicycle. The Municipality is involved in the Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees (SPRAR). In cooperation with voluntary organisations, it undertakes ‘integrated reception’ interventions, through the implementation of an individual programme designed to enable the person to regain a sense of independence, and thus enable effective involvement in terms of employment and housing integration, access to local services and social interaction. A ministerial report recognised the experience of Sant'Angelo's SPRAR centre as a good practice in applied methodologies, such as to be a model exportable to other similar realities.
