“Punto 8” is a secular, voluntary, non-profit organization constituted in 2016 by a group of people widely experienced in international liaison. It deals with worldwide cultural aspects, cooperation and solidarity from an international perspective. As the main purpose, it envisions the diffusion of diverse and distinct cultures to promote social integration and wellbeing within the community.The name “Punto” (point), refers to that “end point” where different people, cultures and communities meet. In various places, the number eight represents the world as two intrinsically connected hemispheres that cannot exist as two separate entities. Additionally, the symbol “8” is the universal sign for “infinity” and epitomises the continuity of life.The association in partnership with Arci, promotes various socio-cultural activities in many parts of the word, particularly in Latin America – most recently active in Cuba. Punto 8 has been actively supporting discussions and debates of globally relevant social issues with the aim of acquainting and sensitizing as many people as possible. The main purpose is that, through sharing and promoting knowledge and insights, an individual may face multifariousness with a sense of solidarity, positivity and moral consciousness.The organization has conducted various events including; conferences involving world renowned intellectuals tackling relevant political, environmental and religious issues, photography exhibitions with social themes based on Latin America, book launchings on different subject matters, work-linked educational activities, immigrant integrational policy strategies and overseas work camp projects. Furthermore, the collective has endorsed many community recreational initiatives such as social dinners, dance events, urban trekking and multilingual social encounters etc.
