Action, Measure in the framework Action, Measure in the framework of “Europe for Citizens” Programme: Strand 1: European remembrance
Abstract:
DON’T MAKE A WALL OUT OF ME. FLASH BACK MEMORIES AND SOCIAL WALLSThe project aims to support the development of critical thinking in the new generations, particularly affected by misleading ideologies, based on deceptive stereotypes and propaganda, as well as methodologies characterizing totalitarian and oppressive regimes and on which real genocides have been justified. Starting from Riccardo Ehrman’s personal story, ANSA journalist interned at the Tarsia Ferramonti concentration camps, which contributed with his historical question to Schabowski to support the passage through the Wall gates and to the consequently reunification of Germany, the participants will be involved in a training course over the role of language in mass media. The Project’s goal is to provide a space for participants (young people between 14 and 25 years old)to share experiences and learning about  antisemitism, xenophobia, homophobia and other forms of intolerance in Europe, and how actually identifying these behaviors in order to effectively addressing it.The project had the following objectives:a) Promoting and share the development of critical thinking through a knowledgeable process against exclusion, marginalization and intolerance;b) Supporting a common build up action based on human rights between young people, and media organisations to fight antisemitic hating propaganda; c)To bring up the struggle against antisemitism through human rights education with young people in Europe and its member states. The programme included the following main elements: 1)Speeches and presentations; 2) non-formal and participatory activities; 3)Working groups and plenary discussions; 4)Interviews and reports in partner countries: 30 years have passed since the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Since then, Germany and Europe have deeply changed. What do the young people born after wall’s fall think about this change? What  has had on their lives? 5)A Reportage: a journalist and a photo reporter in a trip through the new generations that will geolocate any type of "new wall"; 6) A Final conference "DON’T MAKE A WALL OUT OF ME" at the Ferramonti Concentration Camp at the presence of Riccardo Ehrman. All the activities will be promoted through a web platform and social media networks. The working method is based on non-formal education, the participants will be involved in different activity between project partner’s countries and will be ended whit a final conference in Tarsia, Italy.
