The slogan in the collapse of the communist bloc in 1989 was „return to Europe.“ Today, in view of many crises, we are experiencing a loss of overall orientation and rejection of humanistic values in society. We see an escape to the nation, traditions and a steady hand. Confidence in the Europian project is falling (e.g. Czechs’ satisfaction with EU membership has fallen to 46%). The rejection of democracy is mostly related to the absence of positive visions in politics and a shared sense that politicians do not care about my fate and life.What is the relationship of Central Europe politicians and the EU after 30 years? How do they talk about the EU, and what can be read from political parties agendas? Is there a vision of routing our own country, but also the EU in our politics and also in the social debate? Do politicians just say what citizens think or do citizens think what politicians say? And are these post-communist countries different from old-fashioned countries (Austria and Germany)?Our project has the ambition to answer these and other questions. Next we will create a platform to communicate actively with politicians, to connect them with citizens and, in the form of open debates with both sides, to arrive at a mutual understanding of the importance of our own position in relation to the EU, but also our own future. Through international partnership cooperation, we will confront experiences between states and debate whether it is more effective to influence politicians or citizens. We are aware of the complexity of such an effort, we are aware that there are dozens of such debates underway, but in the project we will capitalize on our many years of practice in a region where populists have traditionally held the upper hand, and where we have managed to engage more and more people in debates, thus making the PANT Center a real hub for civil debates on topical society issues in the region.How do we want to do this, and what will our actions be?- We will map the programmatic and rhetorical accents of politicians and political parties towards the European Community (respectively the EU), value versus material relationship/contribution (subsidies, financial convenience)- We will map the attitude of first-time voters and peers, but also senior citizens towards the European project (EU), but also towards the future (perspectives) of their own country - "what country do I want to live in" - We will contribute to cultivating the relationship of citizens to politics and politicians towards… politics = the public; politicians = citizens like us who have chosen to see and implement politics as a service- We will facilitate informal contact between citizens and politicians and moderate the debate so that citizens can talk about politics and issues and politicians have feedback. Debates with politicians will be conducted not confrontationally, but in such a way that the politician has no need to "defend" and the participant "attack," but in such a way that an atmosphere of informal open debate is established and from which one the mutual understanding emerges with the potential to create visions and solve citizens' perceived problems
